New Directions Education are currently recruiting for Education Support Assistants across Winsford and Northwich, offering an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous experience working with children who are looking to move into the education sector.

This role would suit candidates who have worked in childcare, nurseries, youth work, sports coaching, clubs, residential settings, social care or other child-focused environments and are now looking to transfer their existing skills into a school setting.

Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidates must be able to commit to working 3 or more days per week.

The Role:

  • Supporting teachers with the day-to-day running of the classroom
  • Providing support to students with their learning, development and engagement
  • Working with individuals and small groups to support learning
  • Helping students develop confidence, independence and positive social skills
  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping students to regulate their emotions
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with students
  • Assisting with classroom activities, preparation and resources
  • Working closely with teachers and other school staff to support students’ needs
  • Creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Experience within childcare, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, nursery, social care or a similar setting
  • A genuine interest in developing a career within education
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children of different ages and abilities
  • A willingness to learn and develop their experience within a school environment
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A passion for supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and the importance of keeping children safe

Previous school-based experience is not essential — this opportunity is designed for candidates who already have valuable experience working with children and are looking to transfer those skills into education.
